Sticxx Garland Clamps
When Willy van Maasakker came to Promea he lived with an obsession. How could humans learn from nature and make things that could stick to surfaces like insects do? How could we adapt the genius way in which spiders and flies seemingly effortless despise the laws of gravity, walking around on walls and ceilings without leaving a trace? Promea carried out an exploration of this specific wonder of nature. A few month, and many prototypes later the basic principles were transformed into equally simple and effective proof of priciple: An organically X-shaped leaf spring provided with microscopic tips clamps itself in any corner of a house. Plastic covers were modelled and added for grip and safety. A joyful application was found in quick installation of garlands and home decorations.
